SwapMagic 3 is an easy and affordable way to play your PS2 CD-R or DVD-R backups or original import games. It is a completely 'never seen before' solution and alternative to the ModChip for PlayStation2. Absolutely no soldering required - SwapMagic 3 comes with flip-top cover to change CDs.

Two discs: one disc is for booting CD-R games and another for booting DVD-R games

Instructions to use your SwapMagic 3 and flip top cover:

Turn over (upside down) the console and remove the 6 screw covers and screws.
Turn over again and remove the cover from the far, left hand corner.
Remove the cover from the top left corner, then bottom left corner, and then whole piece.
Unscrew the 2 tiny screws which are under the cover, above where the disc drive would be.
Lift off the cover (the cover can be taken off while it is half-way open).
Now you can install the flip top cover (the flip top cover can be installed while it is half-way open).
Turn the cover over (upside down) and screw back in those 2 tiny screws.
Attach the cover to the console carefully.
Turn over the console and replace the 6 screw covers & screws.

I had a few problems with the product at first, but I overcame them and am ultimately happy with my purcase. At first, the product arrived with no real instructions. It's easy enough to physically install the fliptop. The part I hard trouble with was learning how to block the specific sensors that tell the ps2 when the tray is open. This is really important, otherwise the discs won't spin. It's not the easiest process to learn initally, if you're like me with no clue what you're doing. After the installation, I was able to do everything I wanted. Play my ps2 backups and install free mcboot which allows you to play ps1 backups. Overall, the product itself is wonderful if you have the knowledge to use it effectively. Yes, you are able to play imports. The only thing I haven't tested completely yet is the coder functions. There are several different formats as far as codes go, I don't think the product accepts AR MAX only gameshark and regular max codes. However, some people have been able to use their armax stuff in conjunction with the system. Honestly, I would buy this product again and recommend it over any other chip / method. Great price VPgames. Thanks a lot!

I love Swap Magic! It worked like a charm! However, it didn't get 5 stars for the following reasons: 1. It came with absolutely no instructions. This is ok, as I can find them on the net, but it was just weird. 2. After reading the help files ON THE SWAP MAGIC OFFICIAL SITE, it instructions didn't say that you have to remove the third sensor, the one that slides and stops the disc. 3. They say easy installation and all that, and all you need is a screw driver! Well, I had to go BUY a screwdriver because they didn't say that you need the smallest screw driver on planet Earth. They say "easy as 123" but it isn't. I read somewhere that it doesn't break the warranty, but you have to remove the warranty sticker! 4. I ended up having to use MORE than just the Flip Top! There was a sensor that wasn't quite being pushed down, and after 3-4 times of taking the thing completely apart and putting it completely together again (ended up taking 3 hours), the sensor still wasn't blocked, so we had to put tissue paper inside of our PS2! How lame is that? Time for the pros: Works like Magic. You put in the disc, the boot time is VERY short (especially compared to Action Replay Max, and this has a coding feature), then you put in the other disc, or Swap, and then the game boots. Works great! Also, the other good thing..... shipping to Ecuador usually takes at least 1 month, with USPS shipping. VPGames shipped the product hours after purchasing it, and it took LESS THAN 3 WEEKS TO GET HERE! Thanks really good, thanks VPGames.

I was nervous to even tamper with my PS2 to do this but it was much easier than I had expected. The flip top worked perfectly with my 75001 and I'm anxious to try out the swap magic with some international games! The shipping was SUPER fast!

flip top was easy to install, and SM CD works great. DVD only works about 10% of the time on the new 77000 series PS2's, but not vpgames fault. Worked enough for me to install Free McBoot and now don't even need the disk! very happy with purchase.

This product is easy to install and does exactly what I expected it to do. I managed to modify my PS2, and start playing my newly bought import game within 15-20 minutes of starting the installation process. The shipping was pretty quick (especially so, considering I paid the least amount possible), and the quality of the merchandise was/is very good. I would highly recommend VPGames and this product to anyone interested.

Got it in today (fast shipping) happy with the disks, but the cover was less than perfect. would not start scanning the swap disk unless I pushed down on the front of the cover just a bit of pressure. Solved with tape though. :( Should have bought the five piece instead. But for the price best place to shop. And no long wait unless they tell you so. Mine showed up in a few days (just in time for the fourth of July. Will be doing more business with VPGames and less on ebay.

This is my second flip cover with swap magic 3.6 discs. The first one went out in about 2 weeks. The flip cover made the discs spin funny and messed up my playstation. This one seems to work better. I bought the other one from Hong Kong because I didn't know any place that sold it here in the U.S. but I found this site and it is the cheapest price. So thank you. Fast shipping and great customer service.

Swap Magic is awesome! Used it to install FMCB and ESR onto my memory card, so now I can play imports and backups without any swapping! My first experience with vpgames was fast and smooth. I decided to buy from vpgames because they have great reseller ratings, they have cheap shipping, and they take paypal.

The PS2 screws require a lot more torque than you would expect for something so small, but once I got my hands on the right screwdriver the installation went swimmingly. Product works great, my only complaint is how easily the disc scratches. So long as you keep it in a case at all times, this really is the best way to mod your system.
