SwapMagic 3 is an easy and affordable way to play your PS2 CD-R or DVD-R backups or original import games. It is a completely 'never seen before' solution and alternative to the ModChip for PlayStation2. Absolutely no soldering required - SwapMagic 3 comes with a slide tool to change CDs without having to open up your whole console!
Two discs: one disc is for booting CD-R games and another for booting DVD-R games
Includes a Slide Tool for opening your disc drive without resetting the system
Use of the slide tool shouldn't void your warranty, but this method is not approved by Sony; The manufacturer and seller of SwapMagic 3 and the creator of these instructions cannot be held responsible for any damage caused to your system while attempting to use this product
This process will be even easier if you are willing to remove the front door to your disc drive. While PS2 is on, eject the disc drive. Turn off the PS2 so that drive is still hanging out. The door may have some screws to undo or should pop off with some light force.
Insert a Swap Magic 3 Disc in your PlayStation 2 (CD is for booting CD backups/import games. DVD version is for booting DVD backups/import games).
When there are two options (Load Program and Video Mode) on the screen, that is the time to swap the disc using the slide tool to prevent the console from resetting while swapping the disc.
Insert the Slide Tool UNDER the tray on the LEFT side. To make it go in smoothly, leave about a 2 cm gap on the far left. There is a white peg that you are trying to catch in the hook of the tool.
Slide the tool gently to the RIGHT keeping a firm grip. You will feel a little resistance, don't worry, keep sliding and the tray will come out a little automatically. If there is serious resistance, start over because you could be fighting the ejection gears.
Now, it is ready to be pulled fully out. Pull it out gently.
Change the SwapMagic Disc for your Import or Backup disc. Push the drive back in.
Slide the tool gently to the LEFT to re-lock the drive.
Press X on joy pad and the game will start.
Due to the PS2 laser being weak (and probably aged), you make have to try repeat this process or wait a few seconds before it works.
