A total of six controller ports make the system compatible with original Nintendo controllers, Sega Genesis controllers or Super Nintendo controllers

The two included wireless controllers imitate the original Sega Genesis controllers, with A, B, C, X, Y, and Z buttons, except that you use these controllers to play your NES/SNES games as well! The X and Y buttons, which are not found on the original NES controllers, act as turbo buttons when playing NES games.

The cords, adapters, and A/V cables that are included with this system are all exactly the same no matter which mode you are playing, so there is no hassle with switching cords/adapters, etc.
